I moved to London right before a global pandemic, so it wouldn't do to put timing on my list of achievements.

Instead, persevering might be the best word. Actively seeking adventure even when adventure careens into chaos. This colors not only my career but the decisions made in my life.

In 2010 I joined my first advertising agency doing something strategy related while actively stalking the creative department.

in 2011 I went to ad school.

In 2012 I emerged as an agency copywriter, tackling everything from the words on the back of a bag of Lays chips to a Super Bowl spot.

In 2015 I struck out on my own for the first time. I worked independently with clients and at a few agencies, all the while working out where I wanted to put my focus. The best thing about this was the overwhelming amount of talented people I met.

In 2016 I started working with Amazon, where I was given the chance to be the voice of a new project, Textures and Hues, a section of Amazon.com dedicated to products and experiences which comprise the $1.4 billion Black beauty market. Yes, I thought, that's it.

In 2018 Amazon Textures and Hues launched. The Marketing team won a shoe from Jeff Bezos—which is a very big deal, you see—and I realized amplifying underrepresented voices and engaging with underserved markets was both the right thing to do and exactly what I wanted to do.

Late 2018 I left Amazon to travel the world for 5 months. I returned home one year later and 22 countries wiser.

In 2020 I prepared to launch a TV/social campaign for Dove, this time in an effort to end hair discrimination in the United States while promoting Dove's first foray into Black hair care. A bat got in the way of that launch but now it's almost summer and surely nothing worse can happen from here...
